I was once a proud product junkie. You know you are a product junkie when both of your bathroom cabinets are full of products and you sneak in that extra curl definer before anyone gets home. I would buy whatever product was hot for the moment. I started with Miss Jessie’s in 2008. The search for the perfect product included Oyin, Uncle Funky’s Daughter, Curls, Karen’s Body Beautiful and many more brands.

What I learned is that most of the products worked the same. I enjoyed trying new products but my pocketbook grew weary of the purchases. Most times I did not finish the products. My natural friends did not have to go to the beauty supply store for they could just shop at my house.
It took a couple of years to wean myself from all the products. Fast forward to 2017. To prepare for my Sisterlock install, I barely used any products besides shampoo and condition for about one month. I have no pictures because my scalp was itchy and my twistouts were frizzy. My scalp and hair were detoxing. I am almost two months locked and still cannot believe that I do not need any products
Now I use a water bottle filled with rose water and occasional mousse for my curly ends. My hair loves water as the main product. I am loving this new loc journey.
