No, your eyes are not deceiving you I have alopecia. I’m America’s Next Natural Model, also known as Chassity Bynum Winner of ANNM 2012. I was recently diagnosed with alopecia after my wonderful stylist suggested I go and see a dermatologist about a thinning area in the crown of my head…..I know, I know…..gasp!
Shakilla is one of those naturally talented hairstylists who really didn’t need to be thought how to braid, loc or style natural hair. Her long dreadlocks elegantly braided and intriguely styled on top of her head made an impression on me when I first saw her back in 2005 at the annual African Arts Festival in Brooklyn.
Good Morning All,
I have not been through this site in awhile but I wanted to get some feedback and thoughts. I have been natural for two or three years . I have a spot in the middle of my head that appeared in my perms days (one big reason for going natural) and continues to be an area of concern. The spot is no longer bald as it was during my perm generation but is shorter in length compared to the rest of my hair. I am feeling a little anal and want even hair. Should I do a second big chop and start over or does anyone have a cure or remedy to strengthen this section of may hair? Any thoughts and ideas would be appreciated.
