A year goes by so quickly. In the midst of getting things done we often don’t realize how much we accomplish especially if we feel stuck. So, I often compare life to the training of athletes. It takes years of dedication, sweat, tears and hard work for swimmers and runners to improve their personal records only a few milliseconds. There is no instant gratification but that doesn’t mean they are stuck. Slowly but surely they get to their goal.
In 2014, the 10th anniversary year of Going-Natural.com, we visited more events, took more photos, celebrated more hairstyles and connected more than 80.000 Members, Followers and Fans!
My job is hard as a judge each week, but all of the contestants make it fun! The styles that were presented this week showed how versatile and creative natural hair can be. And when you’re using the right products, it makes it that much easier to sculpt a style that’s uniquely you, but also helps maintain the style while expressing the beauty of nature.
My top picks are Nefertiti with her sassy French roll with a twist, Kala giving us the essence of nature and Chassity, where she showed how to bring our hair to life, naturally and easily. My final selection? Chassity! Her Bantu Knots were beautifully sculpted, and the description on how to achieve the look was very intuitive. Good job Chassity!
Elimination: Carlie. It was difficult to see the style. It would have been great to see how creative the back of the hair was. Pretty photos nonetheless.
Until next week!
Ebony- My favorite was the photo with the rose. It was simple and beautiful. It really showcased your hair and your beauty. I would like to see more variety in facial expressions.
Munya- I enjoyed the hairdo. You look beautiful in your photos, but I did find them to be very similiar to each other.
Natasha- I thought your hairstyle was creative and beautiful. The close-up shot of your face was striking. I’d suggest trying out more poses.
Laura C.- Beautiful close-ups. I also love the creativity of the hairstyle. You gave a few different looks. Again, I’d suggest being a little bolder with poses.

Good Morning Naturals,
I have been natural since April 2009 and since my Big Chop I have been using the Jamaican Mango & Lime products. I have had the same regimen and I use the following products:
Weekly Shampoo: Jamaican Mango & Lime Tingle Shampoo
Conditioner: Jamaican Mango & Lime Protein Conditioner
Twist/Twist Out: Jamaican Mango & Lime Resistant Formula Locking Gel
I have been wearing twist out afro puffs and I use the locking gel daily at night when I retwist before before bedtime. I really love this product because it defines my curl pattern and leaves my have very soft. I will continue to do reviews on this product as I add new Jamaican Mango & Lime Products to my regimen.
