Not only is she a gorgeous inspiring natural, she is one of the best singers on planet earth and yet had the least votes on the Voice.
Kala G. did a phenomenal job modeling her accessories. Her look, including hair and make up, matches the vibrancy of the bag and other pieces. My vote goes to Kala G. this week!
Believing in yourself paid off Kala!
Good job to all the contestants.
We’re down to the wire now. Good luck to everyone!
Until next week.
It is so true, many brides opt for a straight look, and it’s for various reasons. It could be because of pressure from mom, the husband may prefer it, or even, the bride may not know that there are tons of beautiful natural styles for their big day. I love how this challenge demonstrates styles that are just as elegant as the ones we’re used to seeing down the aisle year after year. Kudos to all of the contestants!
This week’s submissions were such a pleasure to read! With your words, you each took me to an uplifting place, so before I announce who I’ve chosen this week, let me first share some comments submitted by the contestants that made it such a ‘feel-good’ week.
My job is hard as a judge each week, but all of the contestants make it fun! The styles that were presented this week showed how versatile and creative natural hair can be. And when you’re using the right products, it makes it that much easier to sculpt a style that’s uniquely you, but also helps maintain the style while expressing the beauty of nature.
My top picks are Nefertiti with her sassy French roll with a twist, Kala giving us the essence of nature and Chassity, where she showed how to bring our hair to life, naturally and easily. My final selection? Chassity! Her Bantu Knots were beautifully sculpted, and the description on how to achieve the look was very intuitive. Good job Chassity!
Elimination: Carlie. It was difficult to see the style. It would have been great to see how creative the back of the hair was. Pretty photos nonetheless.
Until next week!
This week’s decision was as hard to make as last week’s, if not more. The vote was between CarlieM and Nefertiti. I decided on Nefertiti! She had a very interesting story, showed versatility in the way she styled her wraps, and made some great points about what is “appropriate” when wearing a head wrap. I loved it! Good luck Nefertiti!
I choose Natural Jael for the elimination. No comments on MLK, not much on the history or symbolism of the wrap, and there was room for more creativity on the styling of the wrap in the photo.
