I AM Top Model
For this Challenge, I had to come at it with the mindset that I was already a Top Model! I was given a job to model both a beautiful beaded necklace and a fresh flower hat. As the model, the first thing I ask myself was “How could I show these accessories to the consumer and represent the company’s product well?”. I also had to look at it from the buyer’s view point and ask myself “What would make me look at these items and want to buy and wear them?” I know that when I look in magazines and at models, I am looking at everything from the hair, make up and clothing.
Everything has to grab me! The first accessory was the necklace and it is GORGEOUS! I loved the colors of the beads and the shells in it!! I loved that it was big, bold and screamed “Look at ME!”!! I wanted it to be the center of attention so I ask myself “What can I do to bring this piece out?”! I focused on the colors of it. I love Turquoise and I decided that I would find something that would help to bring out the Vibrant colors of Turquoise, Red, Orange, Coral, Ivory, Green and Blue!
I chose a free flowing tube dress. I liked that it was strapless so it wouldn’t take away from the necklace which tied in back. I wanted to keep the clothing simple so that the eye catcher would be the necklace! With my earrings, I chose a pair that had Turquoise stones to help complement the necklace and the color of the dress. I felt that this made the other colors pop more! I wanted a clean backdrop that was light and one without distractions. I felt that would also help the necklace stand out even more.
I kept my hair kind of simple too, but wanted it to still look nice so I set my hair in twists and took them out to create free flowing curls and waves. I wanted to become a display for this necklace! I wanted it to be the first thing the buyers saw when they looked at the pictures! I wanted them to say “Oooooh I HAVE to have it!” and I think that is the most important thing because as a consumer, you should fall in love with what you purchase. I want things that are unique and make me feel like one of those high fashion models i’m looking at! I also want things that make people ask where I got it from or compliment it. As a model, I had to communicate this through my pictures. As for my make up, my make up artist did a beautiful burgundy and purple eye with hints of gold and a warm chocolate lip. I think make up is important to pull together the entire look!
For my second accessory, the hat, I chose to do these outside because when looking at the hat my eyes were just drawn to the big beautiful flowers! Flowers make me think of sunny days! The color reminded me of the grass and green is also one of my favorite colors! For the hat, I chose an olive green dress because I wanted something that would make the color of the hat intense! In person, the hat looks like a green with some gold in it. In fashion, I don’t feel you have to match everything either. Everyone needs that one piece that becomes the focal point! As for the jewelry, I looked at the shapes in the hat.
I chose a necklace and earring set that emphasized the circular shape of the flowers in the hat and the buttons of the dress! I chose to keep my hair down so that my curls would be visible under the hat because I felt it would show natural haired women that YES we can fit all of that underneath a hat (lol)!! Hats are a beautiful and wonderful way to complement an outfit, hide a not so wonderful hair day or just to simply lift your spirits by making you feel pretty! I wanted the consumer to look at this hat and want to rock it!! This hat was very feminine and it added a soft touch to my dress. This was a fun challenge because it made me think outside of the box a little more!
