A Walk on the Wild Side!
When we were given this challenge, I really had to do some thinking because I wanted to create a look that would make any woman feel like they could be a Super Model or Cover Girl. I wanted to approach it in a way that would not come off looking too difficult, yet still look like you took time on it.
I feel every woman deserves to feel good about herself, especially in a society that puts extra emphasis on having the perfect body, having long straight hair or the perfect skin. I wanted to create a look that a woman could do and look in the mirror and say “I am Sexy, I am Beautiful and most of all I am ME!”!
This challenge really spoke to me on a personal level because growing up, i was not viewed as being pretty or beautiful. It took years for me to get to a point where I was happy and comfortable with myself and it took much prayer. For this look, I wanted to also explore my “wild side” or better yet my “Cheetah Chic”! Every woman should have one of those! Make makeup FUN!! And most of all, have fun rocking it! Turn some heads and feel good about yourself.
I hope that I will accomplish that and be an example for the women of the world who grew up like me or ever felt a little “unpretty”. To achieve this look, I wanted to really bring out my eyes because I believe that the eyes are truly the key to a person’s soul. I have big eyes and I wanted to play them up a bit by creating a smokey eye that was deep and dark , but with a hint of light. First I had to prepare and prime my skin for the makeup application by first applying an oil control moisturizer. I then applied the beautiful St. Tropez shadow #4 from my lash line up to slightly above the crease with a medium size fluff brush. With the same brush, I applied the St. Tropez shadow #3 from the crease slightly overlapping the first shadow (#4) to make sure they blended properly and stopped right before the brow bone. I then used the St. Tropez shadow #1 and #2 as a highlight on my brow bone with a fluff brush making sure to blend it with the shadow below it (#3) to create a seamless look.
With the Iman Perfect Eye Pencil in black, I lined my lower waterline ( this is the inner part of the bottom of your eye). I also used the Iman Perfect Eye Pencil in Black to line my upper lash line and used a smudge brush to smudge and soften the black to create a smokey eye. I then applied the Iman Luxury Radiance Liquid Makeup in Earth 3 in an inverted triangle around my face where the light naturally hits. I then took the Iman Luxury Radiance Liquid Makeup in Earth 4 and applied it to the outer edges of my face to create depth and dimension. Make sure to blend well so that you can not see the color transitions and your foundation looks natural. After setting the foundation, I added St. Tropez shadow #2 to the inner corners of my eyes to add a touch of light! I then took my Iman Perfect Mascara in Black to give my eyes that final POP! For my lips, I used St. Tropez lipstick #2 and gloss #1.
To give the illusion of a fuller lip, i used the St. Tropez gloss #2 to the center of my bottom lip. Finally to finish my look off, I used the St. Tropez Bronzer on the hollows of my cheeks and the St. Tropez Blush on the apples of my cheeks (smile and apply!) to give off a glowing complexion that will be sure to make everyone take notice!
