Why do you choose to wear your hair the way you do?
Since childhood, I have always been fascinated with longer hair. After several years of wearing braids, I wanted a change. Cutting my hair wasn’t an option. I chose to lock after receiving counsel from my cousin, locstylist, Thando Kafele. He assured me i wouldn’t have limitations with styles and grooming. That was seven years ago.
What does your hair mean to you? Is it just an accessory that compliments your personality and style or is it deeper than that?
I’m definitely what some call a “Fashion Dread”. I do respect those who lock for religious, spiritual, or cultural reasons. I mainly love its “sexy”.
Would you ever shave your hair or perm it for a gig or if someone would ask you to?
I don’t believe any career of my passions, would require me to cut off my locs. No one whose opinion matters would ask me to cut my hair
How important is a woman’s hair to you?
I’m definitely attracted to how a woman wears her hair. For me its major expression of her personal style and character. I was taught as a child that a woman’s hair is her crown and glory. I still believe this to be truth.
Are you single, married or dating? If you’re dating or married, how does she wear her hair? Natural, permed or weave and do you like it? If you are not dating, what type of hair should your ideal future woman have, how should she wear her hair or do you care at all? My ideal mate is a woman who wears her hair in its natural state. I’m a big fan of length. However, I wouldn’t exclude a prospect because of her hair.
Have you ever been stereotyped? If so can you please share details? Some of stereotypes I’ve encountered are being considered a user of marijuana or an underachiever.
Do you think black hair is an issue? Why or why not? Black hair is an issue because we ourselves, haven’t come to embrace, and accept our natural textures, lengths, styles, and colors. How then can we expect the world to?
Are there things that you as a man would like to see changed when it comes to natural hairstyles and society? For instance men with locs and cornrows are being stereotyped and like to see that changed, some men think that too many women wear weaves and some men don’t like the natural styles that women wear these days:. Natural hair, whether straight, curly, or kinky needs to viewed as equally beautiful, and the perfection of the creator.
