To give back to her loyal following, Mireille Liong founder of going-natural.com, plans a free photo shoot to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the growing online community that now exceeds 28.000 members. Not only do all participants get a free digital photo, the person with the most fancy natural hairstyle wins the 10the annual surprise gift basket.
The photo shoot takes place at the Warehouse Gallery & Studio in Redhook, Brooklyn where the exhibition entitled “Bad Hair Uprooted” will also on display as part of the 10th annual celebration program.
Liong’s work pictures the beauty of African hair to change the stereotypical perception of natural hair.
In her Artist Statement, the Social Entrepreneur who holds a Master Degree in IT says “Capturing the beauty of African Hairstyles allows me to picture the beauty of Black natural strands while shining a light on the social injustice of unequal hair rights.”
The photo shoot is open to the public and models of all ages, male and female. People who want to have their picture taken should come prepared, styled and ready to shoot.
Starting time is set at 2:00 PM in the afternoon. Photos will be taken at the first come first serve basis but people who register and RSVP will have an advantage.
