What was the worst part of your journey?
Finding patches of hair broken off into a buzz cut a few days after a stylist visit. It has happened more than once!
What did your hair journey teach you?
Aquaphobia is not a disease black girls have to suffer through. Keeping your ends tucked away preserves your growth. My hair can be styled in it’s natural state, without heat! It’s the most amazing discovery.
When and why did you start your channel?
I was curious about building movements through social media and wanted to start with something I knew plenty about and could claim guru status authentically.
What are the best, funniest and most inspiring responses that you’ve gotten?
I laugh out loud when someone posts a split moment in the video that tickled them. The personal messages have made me come to tears and sent me to my knees. My beloved subscribers ask me questions about abusive relationships, abortion, Jesus, African-American identity, family, marriage, etc. it is so flattering and I feel absolutely honored to be entrusted to offer sound advice.
Do you subscribe to other channels? If so, what would you say are your top 5 favorite ones?
I do, but I rarely have time to watch. I like creative editing, thoughtful original dialogue. My secret indulgence is ChiCity3 but I have to visit in small doses and mentally edit the cursing. As far as hair goes, I like to watch people who have the length I aspire for: LongHairDontCare2011, HairCrush, LeoBody, Shima21, and a couple more.
What do you hope to accomplish with your channel? How often do you vlog and what more can we expect?
I’d like to continue to be inspiration for curious souls and the go to source for hair growth encouragement. I vlog whenever I have the time. I’ve got so much footage to edit and post, it’s ridiculous. I’ve started other placeholder channels because I plan to break out into other highly requested topics soon.
