The International African Arts Festival might need to be renamed the International African Arts Extravaganza announced long time host Adeyemi Bandele at the main stage in Commedore Barry Park, Brooklyn on Saturday. For good reason. The 44th edition of the festival was a spectacular success.
It was the first summer festival I accidently found when they were still on Fulton Street right in front of Boys and Girls High School in Brooklyn. I will never forget it because that is where I saw India Arie live. Performing with her guitar on a small stage with happy people all around clapping and smiling, totally relaxed too as if we were at a family gathering. It was magnificent! She is star and a natural in every sense.
BOUCLES D’EBENE, Europe’s largest Black trade show, has a contest as they are looking for a correspondent to report their three day event Live from Paris. The winner gets an all inclusive trip to Paris with hotel for three days: May 30th, 31st and the 1st of June.
