I have wanted to make the transition to natural for a while now, but due to much discouragement from others, I was intimidated to make the move. I was told everything from my hair wouldn’t look right to it would be more expensive to upkeep.
I wanted dreads but then about a year ago I noticed sisterlocks but thought they were a smaller, thinner form on dreadlocks. After reading the article on sisterlocks vs dreadlocks, I determine I needed to do my own research.
I found the pros and cons of both, and desired the sisterlocks more. I dreaded the cost but said its worth it. I saved the money because it was costly. My hair went through an 8 month transition without a relaxer. I cut all of my hair off believing it would be more managable, but it was more expensive to upkeep my haircut than when I had longer hair.
I have loved my sisterlocks since my installation was conducted in March 2012. My hair has grown alot and it’s easy to manage. I don’t put anything chemicals or cremes on it, and I wash it every two weeks.
The only downfall to my sisterlocks is dandruff. I wish I could wash my hair more, but due to the necessity to upkeep style, don’t overwash and follow consultant’s instructions. My consultant is great. If anyone is considering sisterlocks in the future and lives near the area, Stella Walker does a great job. She is located in Charlotte and you can go to her website at www.lockjourney.com. I have had my sisterlocks for four months now and continue looking forward to further progress along the way. One of the best decisions I ever made.
