Alisha Transitioning Thoughts trim, From Relaxed to Natural, Going natural, time, Natural Hair Story, transitioning 0
So I’m not normally one to blog but I feel like I should get in the habit. So I recently got a trim and she took off maybe an inch. Now for some of us 1 inch is nothing, but for some of us 1 inch is the difference between hair past your shoulders and hair on your shoulders and from this trim, my hair is in some random in-between place! But that’s ok. But the reason that I write today is not to rant about my trim but to give some tips about trimming your hair.
1. Some say natural hair should be trimmed 2x a year, some say every 6-8 weeks, but here is my advice: Whenever you do it be consistent! Inconsistency can still lead to breakage.
2. Get a trim before winter comes. The dryness of the winter make the hair consume more moisture and can there fore leave the hair dry and brittle making it easier to break and split. By getting a trim around the beginning of November, for those of us who live in the south, you give your hair a great start with no split ends.
3. Drink water. It keeps the hair nourished!!!
4. Take vitamins. They work for your body and your hair!
5. Wear protective styles. I love wearing a fro almost 24/7, but when its too cold or too hot I like to put it in twists to keep my ends from drying out. If you pay attention to your hair, you’ll notice that when you moisturize twists, while you twist them, they are still pretty soft once you take them out!
Thats all! Hope this helps!
Peace P.
