The turnout for the first Going Natural Lecture at the Casa Frela Gallery was delightfully higher than expected. Latecomers had to take ground seats in the cozy gallery where we gathered around my 17 inch laptop. The screen was much too small for everyone to get a good view but you could hear a pin drop during the presentation. Clearly the way Black hair is rooted in African American history, fascinated the audience.
Question time slowly brought the attentive listeners back to the gallery. Not only did they ask questions. Viewers also shared their experiences and hair stories turning the event into an interactive gathering of celebrating nappy roots. That, was a wonderful experience.
