If you have locs you are amazed at the flexibility we have with styling. With that being said I want to share with you on how to spiral curl your hair using pipe cleaners that you can find at any craft store. For this tutorial I will use 15 mm sized bendable chenille pipe cleaners.
These pipe cleaners are super flexible and they usually come in 12 inches and you can manipulate them to fit the size of your locs. Also, due to the type of curl you are looking for you can either use them one at a time or you can combine them to achieve a looser curl.
To prep my hair I gathered the following:
· A spray bottle filled with water
· Loc Product
· Large Towel
· Ponytail holder(s)
To begin I gather all of my hair up into a ponytail high on top, and I start to roll the hair at the nape. Because I want a looser curl pattern: I gather about 4-6 locs together, spray them to moisten (do not over saturate), place a small amount of product on the locs to smooth strays, and start to roll at the end of your locs, and roll upward. When you reach the scalp simply bend the remaining pipe cleaners downwards and secure the hair so it will not unroll. This process takes anywhere from 30-45 mins depending on the length of your hair, and just how many locs you have. You already know my hair took the entire 45 minutes.
Once done, you will have a head full of pipe cleaners! Now please be careful, because they are sharp and can actually harm you if you do not bend the ends. You can either wear them the whole day (in hopes you have nowhere to go), or sit underneath a hooded dryer for at least 30 minutes. I wouldn’t suggest sleeping in them unless you like being uncomfortable and enjoy sleeping totally upright.
Here is the finished product!
Now fluff out the curls using your fingers, and go and be fa-bu-lous!
