Give it your best shot!
Ever since she held a camera in her hands for the first time at the age of 9, Mireille Liong has been fascinated by the art of photography. Yet, it was not until she moved from Amsterdam the Netherlands to Brooklyn New York that she decided to take her talents to the next level.
Inspired by the natural hairstyles at her first African American summer fair, she took out her camera to picture as many of the beautiful coiffed heads as she could and her portraits are already legendary.
The portrait of Lurie Daniel-Favors, the attorney she photographed in 2005, is one of the most famous favorite portraits in the Natural Hair world and even inspired Miss Daniel-Favors to publish Afro State of Mind.

Liong never stopped and now has a most remarkable collection natural hairstyles. Part of her collection was successfully on display at the Casa Frela Gallery in Manhattan, at the Warehouse Gallery in Brooklyn and at the 1199 SEIU Gallery in Manhattan.
Also for hire for event photography. Here is an example of event-full photography by Mireille Liong: Masters’ Brunch in Brooklyn.
