What do you like about modeling and are there any aspects that you don’t like about it?
The thing I like the most is having the chance to showcase off all the hard work you’ve put in for whatever job you may have been given.
The aspect I don’t like would have to be all the different types of scams you run across. You have to be careful because there is always someone who will try to take advantage, but I guess that happens in any profession.
What makes you special as a model? What are your strongest features, and what do you bring that others don’t?
What makes me special? Lol!! Me special? I would have to say that when I’m doing a job, I’m all in. I’m completely in to trying to act the part, capture the shot, and steal the moments in the runway. I think my strongest feature would be my confidence; believing that I’m the total package.
The thing I bring in that others don’t? That’s a good one; I believe it’s always a “way”, and I’m going to always find a way to make it work, no matter what the job maybe.
Why do you choose to wear your hair the way you do?
I don’t mind having my hair in different styles. I just prefer to leave it hang since it just feels better, all loose. Lol.
What does your hair mean to you? Is it just an accessory that compliments your personality and style or is it deeper than that? Would you ever shave your hair or perm it for a gig?
My hair has sentimental values. I have been growing it since my sister passed away years ago. It felt so bad since I was working out of town when the tragedy happened. Back then she used to ask me when I will be growing my hair again, so I decided to do this for her hoping she can see it. It’ll be 4 years this coming May.
As far as perming is concerned, I think I’ve never heard of permed dreads before. And for the shaving part, I would hope people would take into consideration the time and effort I have put in my hair before asking that.
How important is a woman’s hair to you? Does a weave, relaxed hair or a natural headed bother you or do you have a preference for either of the styles?
I believe the hair doesn’t make the woman, the woman makes the hair. Meaning, I’ve seen many horrible styles done by many different women, and I’ve seen them all pulled off beautifully. So I guess it just depends on the woman, and how she takes care of it and pulls it off. So my preference would depend on the woman.
Have you ever been stereotyped?
Lol!! Yes, I have, but they didn’t make it completely obvious. I realized it when I started holding a conversation with them; I wasn’t what or who they thought I was. There facial expressions and body language gave them away.
Do you think black hair is an issue? Why or why not?
I don’t think black hair becomes an issue until it starts to stand out. Meaning it depends on job and work environment. As long as it doesn’t draw attention, and it’s not outside of the old traditional guidelines, then it’s ok. Note I said OLD!!
What is your goal as a model?
My goal is to make the best out of every opportunity provided to me. And whatever comes my way, whether it is positive or negative, I will take it all in and learn from it and continue to move forward.
Last Word:
Take advantage of every opportunity in life cause we don’t want to look back and say what if. Cause in life, you get in what you put out.
