I can relate to so much of what Margaret F. Kreps, a writer from North New Jersey, shares in her Going Natural video diary. Although I enjoyed my Jheri Curl a lot longer than three days, I too experienced severe hair breakage after rocking this “Soul glo” do. I wasn’t as brave back then to rock a Caesar, I just went back to a perm.
However I think Margaret hits the nail on the hat stating that the hardest part of going natural was the fear of rejection. I think that is essentially what keeps most of us from going natural. Simple questions like What would people think if they see me? can paralyze us if we assume a negative response.
What do you think? Is this one of the questions you asked yourself before going natural?
The good part is that overcoming this fear was the best part of Margaret who is the author of “My intimate journey with Caesar”.
She rocks a short natural for 20 years but apparently her Caesar is more than just a hair cut. In her book she writes about her hair journey. How her choice to rock a Caesar may be related to her intimate affairs and commitment issues. If you enjoyed her story you may enjoy her book too.
