Naturally curly or locked hair can definitely be an advantage when it comes to chic hairstyles. Naturally Chic, what a beautiful term.  For so many years women of color have been misled to think that in order to be glamourus and sophisticated we have to fit ourselves into a eurocentric standard of beauty which includes harsh dyes, chemical relaxers, and weave bonding glue/agents that tear and pull at the scalp. Women of color have no idea that these standards are not our own.  I love the natural revival that has taken place in our country over the past few years allowing us to dwelve back into our roots where we wear our knots and kinks with pride, fashioned in the crowns of our African ancestors. 

Curly, kinky hair can definitely be an advantage when it comes to chic hairstyles. These styles are not only neat and classy but they can especially bring out and accentuate your beautiful facial features.  Many women of color use chic updos during special or formal occasions, but an updo can be used anytime, its hassle free, and takes no time at all. A great way can be to simply take your hair, and pull it back into a bun with a few pins to hold the bun in place, as well as leaving a few strands of hair/locs out with a flower, or jewel to add a bit of variety to it. Which ever way you decide natural hair can make any chic do represent the African crown with glory without causing damage.
