I started going natural 9 months ago. I did it to prove to myself that becoming natural would instill a newfound confidence that i didnt have back then… and well it did. Ever since I’ve gone natural I have felt beautiful and confident. I feel like I shouldnt care what others think of me, as long as I love the way I look, then everything is alright.
Name: Adriana Brent
Profession/Location: full time student,Beaumont,Texas
What method did you choose and why?
I stopped getting perms and then decided that getting braids was the best think to do until I could figure out what I wanted to do with my hair. After I took the braids out, I saw that my hair got thicker and longer. The new growth definitly showed, so I decided to try a kinky curly style and now I love it!
What was the worst part of your journey?
The hardest point is that I have half of my head natural and the bottom half still has the perm in it… but I know that if I still mantain the naturalness without giving up, I can make it through and all the struggle will be worth it.
And the best part?
I had a newfound confidence I never knew I could have.
What did your hair journey teach you?
I began to notice that I am a beautiful girl and that I shouldnt let the way people judge get in the way of how I live my life.
Describe your worst hairdo and your best hairdo and please include a picture if you can.
My best hair do is when I leave part of my bang out and match a cute hat with my outfit.
I love my hair because:
it gives me confidence
