Good Hair Styles
I hope you agree with me that it’s time for a new book. Besides the fact that you and everybody else are always looking for nice styles, the idea that natural hair is still an issue in the workplace bothers me.
Many people don’t understand African hair and are fast to call our styles “too ethnic”. I can’t believe some people really believe that is an argument but instead of arguing I think it’s best to educate the world about our continuously slammed tresses.
I do know that not every style is for every occasion but when employers don’t accept locs or cornrows because according to them these are extreme hairstyles, there is something fundamentally wrong. (see the 6 flags case). We have to do something about it, now.
My idea is to knock them down with the beauty and the versatility of African hair. With all the beautiful styles that Going-Natural.com has to offer we can sure make it happen.
However, first we need a new hair etiquette. The corporate policies in this day and age are still just based on straight hair. That is fine for many women but it does us Black women with African coils fundamentally wrong because our hair is structurally different.
So, I hope to tackle this and many other issues in my coming book and I welcome you to help me out by commenting on the above hairstyle. Tell me what you think of the style and whether you think it should it be allowed in a corporate environment. Also let me know what other hairstyles and subjects would you like to see covered.
I look forward to your comments. Thanks!
