I have been natural for 18 months now. I transitioned for 4 month and did the big chop on 21 march 2011. The reason I went natural was because I had a bad headache every time I permed my hair and my hair was just breaking and thinning out.

What was the worst part of your journey? And the best part?
The hardest part of my journey was doing my hair every day and not sure what to do with my TWA. Also I did not really know my hair type initially and was just trying every product I watched on youtube…..honestly I became a product junkThe best part of my journey was when I began to admire and do my own hair. I would try different styles and was just proud of myself and how good I looked and I got a lot of admirers and compliments about my hair. I love my nappy hair. Best decision ever made!
What did your hair journey teach you?
My natural hair journey has taught me to embrace my natural look and allowed me to become a pro now in hair styling; braids, twist, weave and crochet braids. It has even become a hobby turned trade for me.
Looking back, has your perception of your hair or black hair in general changed? Please elaborate.
Oh yes. I thought I would never be able to manage my hair. I thought I would be wearing weave all the time till my hair was long enough.
What is your favorite hairstyle?
The Twist out and Afro
