Adémola Mandella’s commitment to the natural hair care industry spans more than 20 years. His vision has produced two of the premier natural hair care salons in New York, KINAPPS African Groomers™ and LOCKS N’ CHOPS HAIR™. 

An innovator in the industry, Mandella’s first salon, KINAPPS, revolutionized the natural hair care industry by introducing the first “Method Classes” in natural hair and lock services for his technicians.  His cutting-edge salon design, street marketing strategies, and world-class customer service techniques are standards in the industry today. 

Mandella, recognized as a pioneer in the natural hair care industry was instrumental in successfully lobbying for the enactment of the first natural hair legislation in New York State.  His actions secured the first licensing and educational curricula in the Unites States for practitioners specializing in natural hair care. Mandella says, “Education is the key to our future, we must continue to organize and to lobby our state politicians for more natural hair legislation and curricula in order to build natural hair institutions.” His contributions to natural hair care have been recognized by:  Essence, Ebony, Crain’s NY Business, Braids & Beauty, Black Elegance, Modern Salon and The New York Times. 

His passion and commitment to advancing the industry inspired him to create and develop his own production company, Cosmic Nubian Imaging, LTD.™  Through this company, Mandella self published his first book, “Authentic Hair”™ celebrating the beauty and versatility of natural hair, now available in paperback.  After over decades of developing salon service systems and products for private label clientele, Mandella is working on a second book as well as his own professional product line for salon professionals and home care, the Authentic Hair Care System™—“Perfecting True Beauty”.
