The hardest part of my journey was learning the dynamics of natural hair care while disregarding all of the myths that I had heard all of my life regarding natural hair.
I started transitioning a couple of years ago. I had only been relaxing my hair every six months, so one day I decided to stop relaxing my hair entirely! My relaxed hair was starting to bore me; turns out, it was the best decision I could have made for my hair! I clipped the relaxed ends off gradually and counted down the days until I was 100% natural!

What was the hardest part of your journey?
The hardest part of my journey was learning the dynamics of natural hair care while disregarding all of the myths that I had heard all of my life regarding natural hair.
And the best part?
The best part was getting acquainted with my new texture. I had a ball (and still do) learning new ways to sty;e and care for my coils.
What did your hair journey teac
h you?
Patience is truly a virtue. I am patient in caring for my hair and I get the best results this way. Also, natural hair is truly beautiful and healthy hair is ‘Good’ Hair!
Describe your worse hairdo and your best hairdo and please include a picture if you can.
My best hairstyles are bantu knots and a braid/twist out combination. I
did a horrible style while transitioning though (it was a failed braid-out).
Looking back, has your perception of your hair or black hair in general changed? Please elaborate.
My perception of hair has changed overall. I see the true beauty and versatility of natural hair now that I have the luxury of caring for my own. There are many myths out there regarding natural hair and I enjoy looking in the mirror at hair that dispels the myths daily.
What is your favorite hairstyle?
It varies depending on the seasons and the mood that I’m in. Right now I am enjoying the ease of a nice braid/twist-out.
Can you please finish the following sentence: I love my hair because…it is God’s blessing and my best accessory!
