Welcome to the New Year Naturalistas,
I hope this year has welcomed you and you are ready to give it your all in order to get the best in return! As women we are always thinking of others and I want to remind you to put your skin on that list of resolutions as well. What do I mean by this? Well, we all know of the saying “Black don’t crack” but let’s give those good genes a boost by bumping up our skin care regimes to look our best at all times. Here is how to start off a year of good skin…
Let’s take it from the top and begin with a good cleanser! If you wear makeup, then you want to make sure to use a cleanser that can break down the properties of makeup or you will not be truly cleansing your face as well as you think you are. So reading labels is important. Depending on your skin type you may want to go for a cleanser that foams (normal to oily) or for one that stays as a cream cleanser (dry skin types) even when wet.
Secondly, a moisturizer is needed for ALL skin types! We can all benefit from a light moisturizer with an SPF to serve as a barrier from the toxins in the environment and protect our skin (we get sun damage too) from too much sun exposure. A light moisturizer for oily skin will actually assist your skin in preventing over producing too much oil on its on (sure will)! For those of us that have normal to dry skin, we already know the need for moisture and the benefit and comfort it provides us.
Next, at night for those of us in our flirty thirties and beyond, a serum that assists in cell turn over is needed (use this after your cleanser, then moisturize). As we mature, so does our skin and it could use some assistance with getting rid of dull skin and a serum provides extra nutrients to do just that! I am currently using the Youth Code by Loreal line and you can get each of the skincare items listed above using this brand.
Lastly, exfoliating about one to two times a week will also brighten skin, rid your skin of dry patches and,….drum roll please….aid in lightening dark marks left from dreaded pimples!
So start the New Year off treating the skin you are in better than you did last year to get better results, because we only get one canvas to create artful masterpieces that reflect who we are and how you take care of yours will tell the story! If you have any questions regarding the above, please drop me a reply!
