Remember getting your hair braided as a little girl? You never had a say in the actual style and the final product was always a surprise. Now that you’re a woman, the power is in your hands.
Still – as most of us who have gone natural know, it’s not you who determines your style…it’s your hair. You have a specific design in mind and try to go one way, however your hair takes you another. Often people tell you to train your hair, but the key to natural hair is letting your hair train YOU. When you let go of the reigns, you release the limits your hair can reach and the results are often astonishing!
For this sweet style, begin above the ear, tracing its shape with a cornrow. As you continue cornrowing this shape along the back of the head, ensure to leave the ends of the hair out. Create asymmetrical zigzag cornrows along the crown of the head, two-strand twisting the ends into bangs. Now take the ends of the cornrows from the back of the head and create a roll on the crown. Complete the look by tucking a flower behind one of your ears. Voila! Don’t you look pretty?
