When and why did you start locing?
March 2009.I started locking my hair because I was looking for an easier way to manage my natural hair. I wanted to grow my hair longer than I ever had and I wanted to maintain the length. My aunt told me about Sisterlocks and I have never looked back. It has been one of the best hair decisions.
What was the hardest part of your Loc journey?
My top crown area is a looser texture so I would have slippage and had to get that section retightened every 4 weeks in the earlier part of my journey.
What is the best part of your Loc journey or having Locs?
The best part are the limitless options to style my locs and feeling like there are no bad hair days.
What is the worst advice when it comes to locs?
Compare your progress to others.
What is the best advice that you would pass on when it comes to locing your hair?
Enjoy every stage of your lock journey and document with pictures and videos (even if just for yourself) just as a reminder of the growth and progress. Sometimes when we look in the mirror we don’t see the changes.
Finally, I love my locs because …they are unique, they are my natural hair, and they are strong. The length is a plus. I loved all these things about my locs years before the length came.
