Before & After
Trini Braids
My quick after workout Bantus
Before
After a workout at the neighborhood gym, I took the time to wash my hair and go to the steam room with tons of homemade conditioner in it. After this luxury treatment, I used the Silky Shea Hair butter to keep my hair soft and moisturized. Then I untangled with the Goody Styling Therapy Brush and quickly made the Bantu knots. I was so ready to go to Khamit Kinks the next day.
Khamit Kinks
Anu from Khamit Kinks clearly understood me when I explained to her that life was just a little too busy at this time and that I needed a break from daily styling. Since I was looking for an easy style that didn’t take too long, she recommended Trini Braids. Until then, I had never heard of Trini Braids but that was all the more reason to try them out.
After: Trini Braids
Trini Braids were named after Master Stylist Shelly Toppin who was from Trinidad and used to work at Khamit Kinks .
There is a clear difference between Trini Braids and the regular plaits we are used to. Trini braids are usually medium or bigger in size and the bigger the size the clearer the difference between the two.
I was impressed by this technique that I had never seen up-close. When the stylist Sesh explained to me that they are like loose fishtail braids I got it. Do you see the resemblance as well?
Sesh completed this style in 3 hours while I was dozing off. That is quite amazing for someone who is tender-headed. Usually I make funny or rather painful faces when someone is doing my hair but not with Sesh. She must have the kindest hands in nappy land.
Hair Care
One can wear Trini Braids for 2 to 3 months. To keep the style neat you can rinse the braids and keep the scalp clean with Sea Breeze.
