I know I would be a perfect candidate for Americas Next Natural Model because not only is my hair natural but I strive to live a lifestyle that is natural as well. My hair was permed at a young age and I really did not have guidance as to the proper ways of taking care of my hair in its natural state.

 

Constantly seeing the media portray beautiful hair as being straight like Europeans caused my sense of what beauty really is to be stirred in the wrong direction. After years of perming my hair I began reading and learning about natural hair, locs, and the different styles that women of color can do with their hair without chemicals. This inspired me to cut my perm out and grow my own hair natural. After doing so I felt more liberated than I ever had felt in my life. Although some of my friends and family were somewhat surprised at me cutting my hair, some of them were also inspired to make the same transition as well. I loved my hair being natural so much that I decided why not try to live as natural as I can.  I became vegetarian, and I began using more organic and natural products on my hair as well as my body. I feel like becoming vegetarian allowed my inner beauty to reflect my outer beauty even more. My skin became a lot clearer, my nails longer, and my hair even began to grow a lot faster. Being natural to me is not only about having hair that is not permed but it is also about living a life that will allow you to feel and be beautiful in your most natural state. This is why I feel like I will I would be a perfect candidate for Americas Next Natural Model because not only is my hair natural but I strive to live a natural lifestyle that I feel can be a representation to women of color all over.
