teens
What was the hardest part of your journey? The assumptions about my
character. Comments like “You must like… because of your hair.”
*And the best part? *The freedom, and self confidence I have gained.
Going natural was an action I took out of necessity, but it turned out to
changed my life. After going natural I felt like if I could wear my hair
without worrying about what people think, I could concur the world!
What did your hair journey teach you? My hair journey taught me that
if you do things for the right reason, you will be successful. If you do
things for other people, and not yourself… you will fail!
Describe your worse hairdo and your best hairdo and please include a
picture if you can. My worst worst hairdo was when my mom decided to put
a “dry curl” in my hair. It was considered “more modern” than a jheri curl,
but still needed activator. After a peer confronted me for leaving a glob
of activator behind, I stopped taking care of it… which eventually lead to
super breakage. I consider this stage of my life, my fake natural.
Looking back, has your perception of your hair or black hair in general
changed? Please elaborate. My hair theories constantly travel through a
360 of thought. Sometimes I think….
Everyone should go natural or
discovery.
Not everyone rocking a natural hair style went through an internal change.
BUT Whenever I start to think its JUST a hairstyle, I am reminded how
stopped in the grocery store and asked about my hair. There are millions
of website dedicated to just Black hair.
as well!
Can you please finish the following sentence: I love my hair because ?. I love my hair because I went natural for me, and no one else, even with
others disapproval. It sounds silly, but I feel accomplished. By just
being natural, I have influenced many around me to do the same.
If a person has locs: Why did you start locing and why did you choose
the method that you choose? N/A
