Yep. 13 hours to install my Sisterlocks. For some, it takes 8 hours. For others, installation lasts 30 hours over the course of 3 days. Why the differences huge differences in time?
3 Reasons That Account For Your Time In The Chair
1. How long is your hair? The longer your hair, the longer it will take for your Sisterlocks to be installed. The interlocking method is woven through the entire length of your hair. If have the minimum amount of hair for Sisterlocks, which 1 ½ inches, then your installation will be reduced.
My hair: 5 to 6 inches
2. How dense is your hair? Density, which is the number of hairs on a person’s head, is measured by counting the number of strands in one square inch of scalp. A person with a low density would initially show a lot of scalp, while someone with a higher density might show no scalp at all. The lower the density, the less time Sisterlocks take to install.
My hair: moderate density
3. How fast is your consultant? Not all Sisterlocks consultants are created equally. One might be able to finish a head in 10 hours, and another consultant might take twice as long on the same head. Time does not equate to skill. It’s necessarily the faster, the better. However, the longer a person is a practicing consultant, the faster she/he probably is.
My hair: two (not one) fast, efficient consultants
The Good News
When you opt for these microlocs, your Sisterlocks installation time only happens once. I will never have to sit for 13 hours again. My reward for all that time in the chair has been worth it.
