I don’t know if you have seen the images of models at the Sou Paula Fashion week. Their wigs are made of steel wool apparently resembling African hair.
To be honest, I like the interpretation and I don’t find this offensive. Probably because you can’t offend my nappy hair. I love it for what it is. I see this as a creative interpretation of natural hair in the grandiose world of fashion. It would be even greater if a black person had created the wigs as a parody on the idea that African hair is like steel wool.
There is something there. Our hair is as delicate as wool and our roots are as strong as steel. So, no matter how you twist it, I am not offended. I still love my nappy hair.
