I love this head wrap! As the temperature outside drops there is less moisture in the air. Wraps are one of my favorite protective styles in the winter, but I also use them in the summer to spice up my styles. Versatility is a huge part of my personal style and wraps give me a plethora of options to be fierce and fashionable. For example, I love wearing a colorful wrap with a plain blazer or a solid colored wrap with a bright and colorful outfit. I explored new wrap styles after this challenge was given that have already become staples for me!

Proud. Fearless. Beautiful. These are all characteristics that Martin Luther King Jr. knew about his people.
To commemorate King’s birthday I plan to attend the local parade, as I have for the last 10 years. This year I’ll be proudly wearing this wrap.
Every style pictured took less than 5 minutes to do, but I made sure to moisturize and seal my hair with a light oil before wrapping. While modeling each style I felt like an African Queen. Proud. Fearless. Beautiful. These are all characteristics that Martin Luther King Jr. knew about his people. But many of us weren’t aware of the African Kings and Queens we descended from. My mother, being raised in Jackson, Mississippi, passed down stories of struggle and heartache from her experiences during the Civil Rights Movement. She instilled in my brother and I, a sense of strength and pride from our history. We marveled at the strength she and so many others had during the movement led by King. I’m grateful for his sacrifices and thankful for his unyielding passion to command justice for all. To commemorate King’s birthday I plan to attend the local parade, as I have for the last 10 years.
