What was the worst part of your journey?
The hardest pt of my journey was being honest to my self about what my natural texture was and not feeling the need to go above and beyond to have the “ultimate curly hair” every time I leave the house.
There is a whole “curly movement” going on but really should be a Nappy Hair movement going on as well bc Sistas are still wasting far too much time and money to prove that they have curly hair when most of us have a more coarse texture. Honestly my hair is a hybrid but I should still be able to rock a matted, ragga look w.o locs and be fly, classy, glam & or sexy.
And the best part?
The best pt of the journey is a few things but the best pt of the journey for me would probably be making this thing look so fly or better yet allowing it to make me look so fly. I do so many cool effects with my hair and the responses from likely and unlikely people are amazing!
What did your hair journey teach you?
The foundation of truly being myself naturally.
Describe your worst hairdo and your best hairdo and please include a picture if you can.
In my natural hair journey…None really. Perhaps I can find some beweavable images. Lil Kim was my idol..need more be said. lol Looking back, has your perception of your hair or black hair in general changed? Please elaborate. Absolutely. I had a bunch of misconceptions from you can only wear certain looks with natural hair, nappy/ragga hair was not cute or funky. There was not much variety with hair-do’s…the list far too wide to mention.
Most girls loved their first perm. Do you remember yours? Was it a special occassion, how old were you and how did you feel about it? What is your favorite hairstyle?
Hightop Look
