For this challenge I tried to think outside of the box. I pondered on what it would be like to be engaged or married and drew my inspiration from the pure joy and happiness I would have.
Ideally I would like to be outside for this type of shoot, but with four inches of snow on the ground and Michigan’s chilling temperatures I decided to go with the next best thing. After doing research for the challenge I found a lot of the same type of wedding styles.
This challenge allowed me to be bring out the romantic sassy side of myself. First by using the crown gems and earrings on my “wedding day”. Then by showcasing the playful theme of Valentine’s Day.
Braided or twisted buns. They were all beautiful styles but, they just didn’t speak to me. I’ve always loved showcasing my hair out and could not see myself getting married with it braided or twisted up into a bun.
To prepare, I pretended that I was getting married and even wore a wedding ring on the day of the shoot! My middle name is versatility so knowing that I would probably wear my hair in a least 2 different styles on my wedding day I opted to do a twist out.
First, I could see myself walking down the aisle with my hair twisted, ends curled, half up and half down. Then later for the reception I could see myself on the dance floor with my hair twisted out, romantically pinned to the back. So that’s what I did for this shoot!
The hair piece was a perfect crown for a queen marrying her king and the earrings added a perfect sparkling detail. Again, being versatile I used the piece as a choker/necklace and created a simple hair embellishment with the earrings. They made me feel radiant and as the gems sparkled I felt they reflected the joy I had as a “bride”.
For the pictures without the pieces I drew my inspiration from the Valentine holiday. My hair is now down showcasing the playful curls. This is exactly how I would wear my hair for a Valentine’s Day date. However, at first it was difficult to pose because I can be VERY shy and giddy when it comes to matters of the heart. I put on my favorite Beyonce song, remembered a crush I have and pretended he was within the lens.
My mood instantaneously changed and my playful personality came out. So I took a seductive and playful stance to display my idea for this romantic photo challenge.
What a fun shoot! I had a great time thinking about love and challenged myself to showcase it in these photos.
Love permeates even the hardest of hearts and melts the coldest of demeanors. We all need that type of connection.
Love is patient, love is kind (1Cor. 13:4), and I believe God is love.
