A few hick up’s but again anotherer fantastic effort from the contestants this week.
Another close call this week between Timolin, Natasha and Raven, but over all the stand out this week was Timolin her shoot fit the brief perfectly, and had advertisement written all over it. Timolin’s shoot showed she understood the challenge, when looking at her images i always saw the product first then the breathtaking young woman in the shoot not the other way around. Timolin used composition wisely the night shot was one of my favourites it really reminded me of a major ad campaign, her accessories stood out in beautiful contrast against the browns and blacks in the picture. i also loved the way her shoot had a vintage feel from the styling of her hair to the soft focus. my favourite photograph, was timolin’s roller braid advertisement, i really feel that she understood the essence of advertisment, the compositon was fresh, and simple as was her minamal make up and plain vest top, the image was clearly highlighting the roller braid product.
this week i really enjoyed Natasha’s photo shoot, she really listened to the judges last week and her photo’s have come on leaps and bounds, i loved how creative she was with the post production of her imagery, the black white with the pop of colour was really clever and i loved her roller braid campaign in the water. if i have any advice it would be to just watch your angles and lighting and make sure you images are in focus so we can see your lovely face.
another stand out was raven, i loved her first image with the feather hair piece, it’s lighting and composition was really strickening and very editorial, it was one of my favourites. i like the way raven thinks outside of the box with her images but it would be nice to see some classic images. less editorial and more commercial.
ebony again had a very prefessional shoot this week her images where very clear and clean, i loved the how she showed the versatility of her accessory, and again ebony had a very strong roller braid campaign shot, i would however have liked to have seen this shot less styled perhaps just with a simple vest and minamal make up. my advice to eboney would be to watch her composition’s for an adertisement i need to see more product.
Nina’s shoot was good, i loved her first picture, with the mirror, it was really different an showed a great use of imagination, i also like Nina’s images that were set against a plain background, this really highlighted her hair style and accesories, however in some of the shots there was a little to much surroundings which distracted from the campiagn.
munya’s images again where very professionally shot, i loved the clean background. the headwrap was lovely but if i wasn’t told before hand that it was your accessorie i would not have know if it was an advertisement for the drum, the bangle or the demin jacket. there was a little bit to much going on in the first few images, try to keep your styling to a mininum.
i really like laura’s unusally styling of her hair band making it a little edgier and funky. however Laura must take note of her surrounding’s and composition of her images, in some of these i was not sure what i was suppose to be fucusing on. the roller braid camapign image could have really worked if not for the composition, as her face looked amazing and i loved what laura did with the upper part of her body.
my advice to all the ladies is to really look and understand the brief, and edit your images accordingly, think about what the viewer is seeing and be your own critic.
