I big chopped on April 30, 2009 because I was tired of boring, lifeless hair. Even though I had healthy looking hair, I felt as though I looked like everyone else. And if I wanted a head full of curls, it meant sitting under the dryer for hours and I HATED that! It finally occured to me that God had given me my own unique head of curls! So I embraced that and
made one of the best decisions of my life and went natural! Yay!

What was the hardest part of your journey?
I guess the hardest part was figuring out what products my hair liked and disliked. And the best part? Realizing the versatility of my hair, and continuing to watch it sprout!
What did your hair journey teach you?
To love myself and be confident regardless of how others feel. There were many who thought I was crazy for cutting off all of my hair! But I held my head high, did my thing, and now they all want to go natural! 🙂
Best hairdo? Worst hairdo?
I really havent had a bad hairdo since going natural! No lie! I love it! I get many compliments on all my styles: wash n gos, twistouts, and updos. I have included pics of these.
Looking back, has your perception of your hair or black hair in general changed? Please elaborate. Yes years ago I thought long, straight hair was what was beautiful. Now I drool over curly, kinky, coily, locked, textured hair! I cant get enough! I get to get it out of my system by blogging on my website about it and trying to help others get “enlightened” like I’ve been.
What is your favorite hairstyle?
Wash n Go’s
Can you please finish the following sentence: I love my hair because ?.
it is what God gave me! No one else has this hair but me! It is versatile and it has taught me to love myself the way I am and that everyone doesnt have to look a certain way to be beautiful! If a person has locs: Why did you start locing and why did you choose the method that you choose?
