The best part? Well the best part so far is all of the things I’m capable of doing with my hair now and on my own , not having to go to a hairdresser…. wash, style, or just moisturize it and walk out the door.
I went natural , because I grew tired of having to pay so much for perms and knowing that getting a perm was bad for my hair didn’t make it any better. So, I decided to not work against my natural hair , but work with it.

What did your hair journey teach you?
That your natural hair is just as beautiful as permed hair can be , but less damaged and all you need to do is learn how to transform it (hairstyles) into something that looks even more beautiful.
Describe your worst hairdo and your best hairdo and please include a picture if you can.
My worst hairdo: was when my afro just started growing and I thought I could just walk out the door and I forgot to moisturize and my hair was rough and brittle the whole day. I thought it was HORRIBLE! My best hairdo: when I buy the locking gel and I sit down and twist my hair. My hair has a golden accent, so when I’m done it looks like mini dreads and I wear those for a couple days and then I take them out and when I do that they look like tinier dreads with curls and I love it it looks so beautiful!.
Looking back, has your perception of your hair or black hair in general changed? Please elaborate. What is your favorite hairstyle?
Well, Yes they actually have because I thought when I was younger that I had bad hair and then as I grew older I was told that black women have coarse hair that was called nappy and that ment that our hair is bad and we needed to perm, hot comb, or anything to just get it straight or not nappy. But when I started college in late 2011 I felt like I could be myself and I could finally try natural hair and having natural hair is definitely a better choice. it saves time in the morning and I feel more beautiful being able to be myself, the true natural Alyssa. My favorite hairstyle is when twist my hair and it comes out looking like little dreads. (:.

I’ve been a member for three weeks and I found going-natural.com from when I was looking on google on how to do a certain hairstyle.

I love my hair because … I love my hair because it is beautiful and my hair is like the mane of a lion and is a very important aspect of my life. If my hair isn’t looking as good as my outfit then I’m not complete.
