It’s been a tremendously wonderful journey that I couldn’t have done without you, your inspirational mails, funny comments, challenging questions and of course your beautiful styles.

It’s going-natural.com’s 10th anniversary! That is a milestone and the perfect time to celebrate a decade of natural hairstyles, models, stylists, salons and hair products.

Some of you may know that it started with my book Going Natural How to Fall in Love with Nappy Hair and this website to help support my readers.

Then a friend inspired me to do an exhibition when she adored the pictures that I shot during the summer festivals so The Pursuit of Nappiness was born.

Soon after this Nappturality and the Tyra Banks Show inspired me to start America’s Next Natural Model in 08.

Finally after you kept asking me about my home made stuff, I gave in and started the Going Natural Hair Care line.

Last but not least I was inspired by so many of your hair stories that I got the idea to do the Going Natural Video Diaries.  

It’s been a tremendously wonderful journey and it should be clear that I couldn’t have done without you, your inspirational mails, funny comments, challenging questions and of course your beautiful styles. 

So my way of showing appreciation is a photo exhibition I named Bad Hair Uprooted this coming August. The exhibition will feature some of your unprecedented head-turning styles that kept me inspired and I believe will keep people inspired for decades to come.

After 10 years of Going Natural How to Fall in Love with Nappy hair, I also thought it was time for a new natural hairstyle book because yes I’ve heard you you are always looking for new natural hairstyles. You just can’t get enough. So hopefully my new book helps fill that void.

America’s Next Natural Model started in 2008

The beautiful natural hairstyles are going to be on display for a full month so we have a plenty of time to celebrate all the projects that going-natural.com has worked on and supported over the years. That means special events every week to highlight all our projects but also a hair show, a head wrap workshop, a natural hair care workshop, a workshop for kids and much, much more. So stay tuned and keep checking out the website. I’ll keep you posted and look forward seeing you in August.
