It almost passed me by: my 1 year locaversary. 12 months passed by so quickly with hardly any issues or maybe I just don’t make much of an issue of small little things.
Here are the things I learned:
Wash your hair
Even if you have locs, wash your hair regularly with shampoo. You don’t have to wash every day and maybe not even once week depending on your lifestyle but definitely once every two weeks.
I wash once a week using the Going Natural Herbal Shampoo and condition every two weeks with the Detox Deep Conditioner.
Separate your hair!
Really make sure you do separate your hair because if you don’t you’ll be miserable. Our hair naturally mats which is great otherwise locking would be nearly impossible but there is a con to that. Locs can also mat together which you don’t want with maintained locs. The longer you wait the harder it will be to separate your new growth from messing up your parted locs.
Tie your hair at night
Whether your hair is long or short If you don’t tie up your hair at night your locs will be all over the place. Especially when your locs are short but then again you can end up with an interesting looking natural hairstyle. If that’s not what you are looking for model your hair the way you want it to look in the morning then tie up your hair before going to bed.
Braid or Bun
When your hair starts to grow and is about mid length put your locs in a bun or braid them at night. This is incredibly helpful to keep your parts neat and keep the locs from matting with each other.
Use a scalp Spray
Whether your hair is short, mid length or long use a spray to keep your scalp from drying out. The Going Natural Scalp Conditioning Spray, enriched with Organic Green Tea, Rooibos Extract and MSM, is the perfect combination to maintain a healthy scalp. The spray is popular because it feeds hair that suffers from chronic dehydration and prevents hair loss.
