Karen Chambers of Iman Cosmetics

Karen Chambers is the Creative Director of IMAN Cosmetics, where she oversees communications, product development and creative services for the internationally recognized cosmetics and skincare line. Ms. Chambers is an alumna of Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication. She is also a member of CEW (Cosmetics Executive Women) and was named one of the beauty industry’s leading women by Upscale Magazine. Her product launches have earned IMAN Cosmetics a coveted OPRAH Magazine “O” Award and an ESSENCE Magazine Award for Product of the Year.

Throughout her 20 year career in health & beauty marketing and communications, Ms. Chambers has been a contributing fashion, beauty, travel, and lifestyle writer and editor for national publications including Black Enterprise, Black Elegance, Spa Odyssey and Hype Hair magazines.

She has also been a consultant on numerous multicultural campaigns including: the launch of the Gladys Knight Apollo Theater Gala for the Ashley Stewart Foundation and the development of the Patti LaBelle Signature Beauty & Fragrance Collection. Ms. Chambers has designed corporate collaborations with organizations such as: The Magic Johnson Foundation’s 7th on 6th Fashion Week Designer Showcase, Dress For Success, The National Council of Negro Women, Jack & Jill of America, Telemundo, Univision, QVC, HSN and the Oprah Winfrey show. Her accomplishments in advertising and promotions have been recognized by Women’s Wear Daily, US AD Review, Essence, Latina, Honey, and Heart & Soul magazines.

Additionally, Ms. Chambers has been an advocate, career coach and mentor for hundreds of women in transition. She has directed welfare-to-work initiatives for corporations and social service agencies; and presented best-practice programs for the Urban League, Salvation Army and the Private Industry Council. This role afforded her an opportunity to follow her dream of being an inspirational model for women’s professional growth and personal wellbeing.
