Kcurly on Week 4

I picked Timolin as my favorite for this challenge. Nina and Denitrika came in close!

Natasha

Makeup

The simply colored backgrounds and your choice of clothing color (black) really help bring focus to your beautiful skin tone and make up application. Let me say that you have the smoky and sultry stare down pat! But I would really love to see some jubilant expressions as well to fully get the full range of the makeups effects. I also liked your choice in hairstyle as it gave off both a flirty and sophisticated feel.

Jewelry

I enjoyed how you paired the earrings with different accessories, giving you a different look each time. I think the fro was a good choice in hairstyle because it still allows a lot of focus on the earrings while complimenting them as well. Great job!

Denitrika

You have a smile that is verging on adorable! The makeup looked flawless on you. Your shoot had a carefree, young, and light feeling. I do think that a few of the shots had lighting that was a bit too bright and did not fully reveal the coloring. Overall, though, loved it!!

Ebony

Makeup

Your pictures had a fresh faced feel for a wonderful everyday look. I liked the choice of clothing and the scarf. Even though I do enjoy the everyday look, I do feel that you’ve could’ve shaken things up a bit more with a bit more color in some shots or perhaps a few action shots.

Jewelry

Again, very fresh feeling to these photos. I liked the outside lighting and your hair framing the earrings.

Raven

I am digging the dramatic and bold feel to your photos! The poses ranged from sexy to thoughtful, just loved it. I also loved how your makeup changed based on your poses and the feel of each photo.

Jewelry

I didn’t feel like I got the full effect of the earrings you were showing off. I still felt like your photos were great shots of you but I don’t feel the focus was on the jewelry.

Timolin

Make up

Your photos were absolutely stunning. Your makeup and hair were just great. There were some fantastic full face shots in there as well. Your look was class, simple, and effortless! Loved it!

Jewelry

Same here! I especially loved the different hairstyles you paired with the earrings. The first photo of you in black and white and the earrings in color particularly stood out.

Munya

Makeup

These shots were very soft and feminine. I liked your gentle expression but would have liked to see more variety in both your face and poses.

Jewelry

Again, very soft and feminine shots. However, I think you would have benefited from closer shots to showcase the jewelry more.

Nina

Makeup

These shots were all gorgeous! Your updo really helps to accentuate your facial features and the makeup. Your poses have the feel of a woman getting ready to go out on the town for a night of fun! I loved it all.

Jewelry

Because the item you were showcasing has such a unique feel and color, I think it’s imperative that your clothing compliment that. And it did! Again, I love the updo here too. I also liked how you were having fun with the jewelry not just wearing it.

Laura

Makeup

I liked the shots but the photos were too bright (or maybe the lighting was too bright?) so I didn’t feel like I got an accurate effect of the makeup. I feel like you could’ve done more here to attract attention as far as your posing goes. I loved the shot where you were looking directly into the camera with a beautiful smile.

Sasha-Shae on Week 1

Sasha-Shae on Week 1

SashaOverall I chose the photos of Ebony C to be the best because they were well done and truly exhibits what a natural model is all about, light, free, nature-in tuned, and just exuberant. Miss. Nina also had a good deal that showcased this. I think everyone did an overall good job for the first weeks challenge and I look forward to seeing what comes in the weeks ahead.

Now everyone, go ahead and get them fierce photos coming!!

Lady Kinnks – Week 5 Feedback

Ebony, Timolin and Nina – I felt like your submissions were the best this week. You provided clear instructions on my favorite style the twist-out. I also thought the “after” pictures were enjoyable within the Valentine’s spirit.

Nina: Nice touch including your sponsor products along with the needed supplies. Your dresses are sexy! I want them all! I love your positive words about inner confidence!

Your answers were thought provoking. Wanting to inspire others, especially young girls is something I take very seriously. As someone who also mentors, I feel the image you are projecting, of natural health and beauty is to be commended.  I could feel your energy in every photo. I love the attitude, the energy and the look of your hair in every single photo. The feeling is fit, youthful, vibrant and stylista, but professional and neat. Very well done and I’m looking forward to your future challenges.

Laura Cottingham’s La Lueur Naturelle Challenge 1
I love the spirituality you represent in this challenge and the way your answer reflected this. Regardless of faith (or not) it is important for all people to learn to recognize and appreciate the beauty they were given by their creator as the perfect beauty for them. The blond hair extensions had me confused for a second, then I realized you were using them like a fur stole. Very clever! Your photographs were very well composed, showed class and sophistication – the cowboy shot was my favourite! I would like to see more of your hair in future challenges. Overall, this was an excellent challenge.

Ebony- My favorite was the photo with the rose. It was simple and beautiful. It really showcased your hair and your beauty. I would like to see more variety in facial expressions.

Munya- I enjoyed the hairdo. You look beautiful in your photos, but I did find them to be very similiar to each other.

Natasha- I thought your hairstyle was creative and beautiful. The close-up shot of your face was striking. I’d suggest trying out more poses.

Laura C.- Beautiful close-ups. I also love the creativity of the hairstyle. You gave a few different looks. Again, I’d suggest being a little bolder with poses.

Raven: You bring some edge to the competition! i like it. I like how you included a smiley picture too showing your versatility. Really well done!

Ebony: You look beautiful in each of your pictures. Very commercial, very approachable. You really followed the guidelines and delivered beautiful shots.

Timolin: I really enjoyed your pictures. The soft smile is beautiful and elegant. Your first 3 shots are my favorites. You know your best angle and know how to work it. Try to make sure your pictures are in focus next week, a couple look a little blurred.

Raven
I really like your first photo. I like your look, the colors and especially how you placed the accessory.  Even though you can’t clearly see it, your photo has an edge and I like that. Your comments on the site match your look: the feather is a must-have!
Picture 2 and 4 would probably do good in a fashion shoot. In 5 the accessory isn’t in the picture at all. You can see the accessory in picture 3 which is also a good shot. What I like about you is your variety. You got poses and many styles. It’s clear that you always seek to take your shoot to a next level which is great. I think though you have to learn to relate to the job asked of you first, then to take it to the next level.

Ebony
Congratulations on the judges’ choice! I loved your first shoot as well. I like how you played with the headband and put it around your neck as a choker. Your makeup is good and I love how you look in the camera. However, the headband that you need to sell is not in the center. It’s just an accessory in the photo. So although the picture is not bad at all, it doesn’t do the job.

Teri on Challenge 6: Doodles

Teri on Challenge 6: Doodles

Teri LaFleshI loved loved loved seeing how beautifully the Doodles came out on all you lovely ladies! All of you were stunning, and it was a joy to see your beautiful natural hair in “Doodle” styles! I liked that you showed the process, had enthusiastic descriptions, and a sort of “before” and “after”. It was very difficult to pick a favorite. You are all so talented and beautiful.

Challenge 6: Natasha: I enjoyed what you did with the doodles, especially considering you were under the weather and had a toothache. Your style had a cool “loc” look to it. I liked how you showed the different steps in the process, and I agree that next time if you make lots more, smaller doodles it will really let your beautiful texture show.

Munya I look at your photos and you remind me of a breath of fresh hair. You seem to exude a calm inner peace. My only qualm, is that I would have liked to see more head shots. This would’ve allowed the focus to be more on your head wrap and hair.

Raven You managed to showcase the feather headdress in a formal and casual look. This is very helpful to consumers! This week, and last I enjoy your pictures because you provide versatility, while bringing your personality to every shot.
