America’s Next Natural Model goes Suriname!

In this anniversary year of the very first natural hair beauty pageant online that I started a decade ago, I am elated to announce that America’s Next Natural Model goes Suriname! Yes, you read it right but there is more.  

With WhatNaturalsLove.com, the new marketplace just ready everything is coming together so incredibly well because now, not only can the contestants show what we have in store at What-Naturals-Love.com, the winner of America’s Next Natural Model 2018 gets a photo and video shoot in Suriname, the greenest country on the planet!

The trip to my tropical home country in the middle of the Guyana’s in South-America, is included for the winner of America’s Next Natural Model 2018, thanks to SLM, Suriname’s National Carrier.

I will personally shoot the winner in the beautiful Feng Shui Garden and other special places to highlight Suriname’s beautiful interior, best foods and restaurants  as well as local female businesses in fashion, art and jewelry design.

In short, by shooting America’s Next Natural Model in Suriname, we will show you around in a country that few people have ever heard of, let alone visited.

The online pageant starts October 1st and lasts seven weeks. The trip to Suriname will be in the 1st week , around the 4th of January.

America’s Next Natural Model is an online pageant to promote natural hair and Black businesses. Since its start in 2008, the pageant has featured companies like Iman cosmeticsJamaica Mango & Lime as well as upcoming fashion designers rewarding the winner with a photo and video shoot in Manhattan, New York.

Chassity Bynum, winner of 2012 was interviewed by her local TV station in Charlotte, NC, while Jayme Goodwin, the winner of 2013, starred in a juice commercial and the founder Mireille Liong was featured on The Here and Now Show

America’s Next Natural Model goes Suriname!

The prize for the winner of America’s Next Natural Model 2018 is a photo and video shoot in Suriname. Drs. Mireille Liong, famous for the portraits of Bad Hair Uprooted will shoot the winner in the Feng Shui Garden and other special places to highlight and promote Suriname’s beautiful interior, best trips, restaurants, hotels and travel agencies as well as fashion design and jewelry.

SLM, Suriname Airways, sponsor of America’s Next Natural Model, will fly the winner from Miami Airport to Paramaribo Airport in Suriname but that is not all. The winner of America’s Next Natural Model gets to stay at Eco Resort Paramaribo, the best luxury place to stay in the center of Paramaribo surrounded by the beautiful flora and fauna of the tropics.

The most difficult challenges were challenges 4 (the makeup and jewelry) and 5 (Valentine’s Day). Simply because my grandmother had just died. I felt a little overwhelmed by everything–work, trying to make travel arrangements, the competition, trying to figure out who was going to take my pictures at the last minute before my flight, trying to upload pics while in California while meeting the demands of my family, coming back, trying to get re-adjusted to my own life and being back in my own time zone and grieving at the same time. My favorite challenge was the Maroon challenge because it really spoke to my heart. I am familiar with challenges and trials as I had a heart attack after the birth of my 2 year old son. When you have to fight for your life, you look at it differently. You step out and accept challenges with ease and confidence because you know what you have persevered through.
