I was recommended and referred to this site for that specific purpose. I really dont expect to win but I thought it would be fun to enter!! I love to challenge myself to come up with new creative natural hairstyles outside the normal twists and braid styles that are popular with alot of people with natural hair. I would like to be the Next America's natural model to show the world that although your over the age of 40 years old that you can still be sexy and rock your own style. I have been natural for about 7 years now. I went natural before it was a movement, I am always disheartened to hear people ridicule natural hair. I would love to enter America's Next Natural Model for I have been natural for 10 years. Of those 10 years I have had locs for 8 of those years. I love the fact that this is a competition where there are not so many requirements except for being natural. I don't meet requirements of other modeling, but this one fits me perfectly. I decided to go natural 2 years ago after seeing the documentary Good Hair. "Something has to change," I remember thinking to myself. It made me so sad to see all of the money and time that black women spent to fix something that was never broken. What hurt me the most is that I never even knew what my own natural hair looked like. Greetings to all ! I am happy I received the info to participate in this competition. I am most comfortable with my God-given hair, and I have been aware of this since childhood. I have waist length natural locs that I love to style and I enjoy representing the beauty of our hair. This will be a great opportunity for two reasons.
First America's Next Natural Model (ANNM) will help me to gain more confidence in myself. I was always a shy person and I still consider myself to be. When I was young, I was very insecure. I suffered from severe acne, my hair was damaged from a bad perm and I had a bad habit of biting my fingernails.
