I was recommended and referred to this site for that specific purpose. I really dont expect to win but I thought it would be fun to enter!! I love to challenge myself to come up with new creative natural hairstyles outside the normal twists and braid styles that are popular with alot of people with natural hair. Me and my daughter are doing the mother/daughter thing.... go #teamnaturalhair!

My natural hair journey started 8 years ago, as part-in-parcel of an entire WHOLISTIC transformation of Mind, Body, Sprit! Brother Garvey said it best “ Don’t Remove the Kinks from your Hair, remove them from your BRAIN”! On my quest to heal my body of health issues involving fibroids, & cysts, I had no hope with the traditional medica

I would like to be the Next America's natural model to show the world that although your over the age of 40 years old that you can still be sexy and rock your own style. I have been natural for 1 1/2 years. Being natural was not my plan it just happen when I mixed a color and a relaxer together. (My hair began to fall out). This is what pushed me into attitude to say “enough with chemical stuff." Being natural has made me feel so much better above myself like I'm fully exposed and saying

I am NATURAL, confident, fabulous and humble! After a yearlong transition, I have been wearing my natural hair for two years and I love it. I enjoy inspiring and encouraging anyone who has a desire to go natural but is hesitant or those who have just started their journey and could use some support. I am not only a supporter of the "natural hair community"; I am a strong believer in the empowerment of all women, especially women of color. It is important that we live our lives free in the

It' s sad that so many people are ashamed of or disgusted with natural hair that isn't straight or wavy. I want to be an advocate for other naturals especially natural children and adolescents. I want people to embrace natural hair that does not fit society's standards. I like to go against the grain to express confidence and defy standards or expe

I would love to enter America's Next Natural Model for I have been natural for 10 years. Of those 10 years I have had locs for 8 of those years. I love the fact that this is a competition where there are not so many requirements except for being natural. I don't meet requirements of other modeling, but this one fits me perfectly. This sounds like so much fun, I can't wait to do the challenges. I always wanted to be a model, I was in a natural hair fashion show and I loved it so much and I wan

It made me so sad to see all of the money and time that black women spent to fix something that was never broken. What hurt me the most is that I never even knew what my own natural hair looked like. My mother had been taking me to get relaxers since I was 5 years old. Wearing my natural hair didn't even seem like an option growing up. I felt like apart of me w

I am the definition of natural. I want young people to see that being in your natural state is beautiful. Taking care of your body insures healthy hair.

I remember when being natural was looked down upon by my own sisters and brothers and being asked, "why would you want to wear your hair like that?...it's so nappy!"...I remember the feeling I got inside when those questions and statements were made - the feeling was that of sadness, sadness for THOSE who did not understand or desire to embrace themselves as they are. I have loved eve

First America's Next Natural Model (ANNM) will help me to gain more confidence in myself. I was always a shy person and I still consider myself to be. When I was young, I was very insecure. I suffered from severe acne, my hair was damaged from a bad perm and I had a bad habit of biting my fingernails. Now that the acne's gone, my hair is healthy, long and strong and I stopped nail biting, I became comfortable in my beautiful brown skin and now
